A historic moment in the political history of Uttar Pradesh, the Bahujan Samaj Party and the Samajwadi party has officially announced their alliance through a press conference today. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav has expressed his confidence in getting his math right and defeating the BJP in the upcoming 2019 elections. Both parties will contest on 38 seats each in the state. 2 seats have been left for a decision at a later stage with new probable partners. The alliance has decided not to contest Rae Bareli and Amethi seats, despite having no alliance with Congress.
